Good afternoon, friends,

In today’s ATC Extra bulletin….

  • Targeting the mile handicap up at Ayr….
  • Bets in three big handicaps this weekend….
  • The pick of the prices….

Targeting the mile handicap up at Ayr….

Our target race tomorrow afternoon is the William Hill Supports Clic Sargent Ayrhire Handicap up at Ayr (3.10).

Fourteen runners are slated to go to post in this class 2 event over the turning left-handed mile. This is a race where being drawn high is something of a disadvantage on the stats….

We’ll get to this afternoon’s selection in a moment. But first a few words on the races I’m targeting over on my paid Against the Crowd service this afternoon….

Bets in three big handicaps this weekend….

Over on my paid Against the Crowd service this afternoon we’re shoting at the prices in three big handicaps tomorrow afternoon up at Ayr and down at Newbury….

  • The feature up at Ayr – the Gold Cup – looks very competitive. I could make a case for almost every runner. I’ve sided with one who looks like his whole season has been designed around peaking tomorrow afternoon….
  • In the Silver Cup I’m supporting a horse that has been set up to find extra improvement at an attractive price….
  • At Newbury in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap I reckon the market have missed a live one at a double-figure price….

If you’re looking for a couple more bets for tomorrow afternoon you can access those picks free of charge right now by taking a FREE test-drive of my Against the Crowd service….

The pick of the prices….

Three years ago this weekend Andrew Balding’s HIGHLAND COLORI had his day in the autumn sunshine when winning the Ayr Gold Cup over 6f.

This time he goes in the much-less prestigious mile handicap – the William Hill Supports Clic Sargent Ayrhire Handicap up (3.10) – and he rates a bet at the 14s with race sponsors William Hill.

Granted, he’s a veteran and he hasn’t won in a good while. But he’s produced a couple of decent placed efforts in recent times and Ayr is a track this horse really likes.

As I say, he won the Ayr Gold Cup back in 2013 and in last year’s renewal of the race he finished a very creditable 6th of 25 off a mark of 103.

He’s rated 6lb lower than that now and has a 3lb claimer onboard to boot – which gives him a fighting chance. And a mile on a favored course might just be the combination that enables him to finally get back to winning ways.

There were certainly signs at Sandown in July and Ascot last month that he can prove competitive over the trip. Stall 8 is okay, the yard has been sending out winners and the price is fair enough for an each-way tilt.

The ATC Extra bet recap….

Remember, we don’t have to be betting in hundreds to make the game worthwhile or fun. A spend of a few quid is plenty to be going on with….

Note: Place terms are the standard 1/4 1-2-3 and I wouldn’t expect any firms to offer an enhanced deal on this race.

That’s all from me this week. Enjoy your weekend.
