23rd September 2016
Good afternoon, friends,
In today’s ATC Extra bulletin….
Our target race this week is the class 2 Hydes Original Handicap run over the 5f trip at Haydock tomorrow afternoon (4.30)….
It’s a nice contest for us. A field of 17 runners goes to post on ground described this afternoon as good. There’s no rain forecast overnight.
We’ll get to this afternoon’s selection in a moment. But first a few words on the races I’m targeting over on my paid Against the Crowd service this afternoon….
Down at Newmarket tomorrow….
Over on my paid Against the Crowd service this afternoon we’re targeting two of the big races run at Newmarket tomorrow….
If you’re looking for a couple more bets for tomorrow afternoon you can access those picks free of charge right now by taking a FREE test-drive of my Against the Crowd service….
It’s not an ideal situation this afternoon. It’s almost 4pm and the bookies still haven’t put prices up for our target race. So I’m going to have to go off the industry tissue prices. These aren’t always accurate – but they do give us a ballpark idea.
The one I like on tissue is HARRY HURRICANE at 10s. I’d be happy with that price. If I could get bigger when the firms get round to pricing-up – so much the better.
George Baker’s charge has been running good races in decent handicap events off today’s kind of mark since the end of July.
He was 5th of 16 at Goodwood in July off a mark 97. He was 5th of 20 at York off 96 in August. And earlier this month he was 3rd of 20 in the Portland at Doncaster off a mark of 95. He’s basically been there or thereabouts.
He’s back up a pound to 96 for tomorrow’s assignment – just 1lb ahead of the rating he last won off at York. We know he’s capable. And we know he’s firing. He just needs something to help bring out that extra bit of performance required to win.
Connections might just get that bit extra out of him tomorrow. They’re certainly trying. They’re applying first-time blinkers. Jim Crowley has been booked to ride the horse for the first time. And he’s back down to the minimum 5f trip on a flat track.
Crowley will certainly be trying on every ride he gets between now and the end of the season. You don’t win jockeys championships by taking things easy or just turning out to make up the numbers. And the blinkers might just help the 4yo concentrate that bit harder – and to better effect.
The ATC Extra bet recap….
Remember, we don’t have to be betting in hundreds to make the game worthwhile or fun. A spend of a few quid is plenty to be going on with….
Note: Standard place terms are 1/4 1-2-3-4.
That’s all from me this week. Enjoy your weekend.
