The pick of the prices in the Sky Bet Dash….

We’re up at York for this weekend’s target race – the Sky Bet Dash Handicap at 2.40 tomorrow afternoon….

This is class 2 race for horses aged 3yo+ and rated 0 to 105. They race up the straight 6f strip….

A field of 19 horses goes to post on ground described this morning as good to firm….

David O’Meara’s classy Intisaab heads the weights on his mark of 108. At the bottom end Daschas – rated 80 – is a pound out of the handicap and effectively runs off 81. It’s quite a spread.

We have six last-time-out winners in the field. Harome is the one belting up the weights. He’s been in the form of his career this summer and must overcome and 8lb rise for this last-time-out win at this track a fortnight ago. He’s stepping up in trip too….

Watchable is up 5lbs. So too Intisaab. And Daschas is effectively up 4lbs for his win last time at Ascot. He’s stepping up in class but has earned his opportunity having won two of his last three for connections. Lightweight apprentice Milly Naseb takes off 5lb.

We’ll get to my selections for tomorrow’s race in a moment….

First a quick word on what you missed on my paid ATC service this week….

  • What you missed on ATC this week….

This week on ATC….

The BHA recently took Willie Mullins’s vet to court because they believed he had passed on information to punters that gave them an unfair advantage. On Monday we asked when the BHA are going to bring the real cheats to heel – the bookmakers….

On Tuesday, Nick reported on the speculative position he’ taken in the Melbourne Cup – and outlined why….

On Wednesday, we extracted the insights and lessons delivered by last weekend’s JLT Cup at Newbury….

On Thursday, Nick served up a couple of KISS (Keep-It-Simple-Stupid) angles for the big handicaps at next week’s Glorious Goodwood meeting (starts Tuesday)….

You can view this material and a whole load of additional angles, insights and observations in the archive on the ATC website when you take a 14-day FREE trial of the ATC service. Do that right here....

  • Get on Muscika each-way….

Back to tomorrow’s target race and the pick of the prices….

There’s pace all over the track and I’m expecting them to go hell-for-leather early doors – and some of the trail-blazers could burn one another out of it….

I’m looking for a hold-up horse at a price and the one that appeals is David O’Meara’s MUSCIKA….

He’s priced up at 25s – a nice each-way quote – on the back of his last two runs….

He looks like an out-of-form horse on paper but at Thirsk he literally fell out of the stalls and then at Ascot the 5f was probably a bit quick for him and he was drawn over on the wrong side on the day….

Prior to that the application of a visor had produced a couple of solid performances that suggested the 4yo was improving and could prove better than a mark of 92….

Thanks to his last two runs, he’s dropped back down to 90. I reckon he’s better than that and he can prove it tomorrow….

The track should suit. Last September he ran a decent enough race at the venue – chasing home subsequent 100+-rated horses Major Jumbo and Dakota Gold….

Richard Kingscote takes the ride at just a pound above his lowest riding weight over the last 12-months.

I must admit, it has the look of a spare. But I’m not going to let that bother me. Kingscote is a decent rider, he’s in very good form and this is a chance to make his mark for a yard he hasn’t had too many rides from….

The Pick of the Prices....

To recap on where my contrarian money will be going tomorrow afternoon….

In the Sky Bet Dash (2.40 @ York).

  • Nick’s Contrarian Picks – MUSCIKA each-way (25s generally)

That is my take on where the value lies – but you will no doubt have your own ideas and that’s exactly as it should be.

  • Extra bets for the weekend….

A massive field of 29 runners goes to post for this season’s renewal of the Gigaset International Stakes at Ascot….

I’m going two-against-the-field at attractive prices….

My first selection is dangerously well-handicapped, primed and set to go close….

My other selection is trading at a price I cannot for the life of me understand. He’s a few pounds better than his mark and he represents massive value….

You can get immediate access to these extra bets on the website when you take a FREE 14-day test drive of my Against the Crowd service….

  • One more thing….

That’s all from me this week.

Enjoy your weekend.
