INTRINSIC BOND at the 9s is my pick in tomorrow’s opener at York….
…. the Sky Bet And Symphony Group Handicap at 1.50….
He’s not as big as some I pick out – in terms of price….
…. but he does have a BIG chance tomorrow….
…. and such is my faith….
…. I reckon the 9s is a nice price – there’s a bit of 10s about but you’ll need to be quick because it won’t last long….
A change of yard has rejuvenated the 6yo. He’d tailed off under Tracey Waggott – posting one 90+ RPR in his last seven runs for her….
…. but the air at Michael Wigham’s yard definitely reached the right parts….
…. because he won at Ascot first time up….
…. and then backed it up at the weekend in the Shergar Cup – back at the same venue….
…. both performances worth 100+ on the RPR scale – and easy career bests….
He didn’t win that last race on Saturday – finding one too good….
…. but he ran with enormous credit….
The race was run in a quick time and the way it panned-out suited hold-up horses….
Intrinsic Bond did easily the best of those that combined to force the early pace….
…. sticking to his task and finding plenty – whilst the others fell away to fill the last three spots….
His prominent style of racing is a plus tomorrow and Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching booking in the plate….
He’s in the form of his life and I see him going deep….
Later on the card in the Sky Bet Stayers Handicap at 4.10….
…. GRAPPA NONINO is the bet at 7s….
He needs this trip, there aren’t too many opportunities for him in Ireland, and Dermot Weld sends him over for a first crack at a proper pot….
On official ratings he’s at the foot of the standings and will need to improve….
…. but on a mark of 72 he’s 2lb well-in under a 5lb penalty – and I reckon there’s a lot more to come….
Just over a week ago at the Curragh he beat 20 home in an 8k handicap….
It’s modest form as it reads – but he did it well….
…. only the runner-up (in first-time blinkers) got to within 4-lengths of him….
…. and this was over 16f….
He’s already got a win over tomorrow’s trip in the bag….
…. and the way he stayed last week….
…. I can only see tomorrow’s extra yardage helping him considerably….
