The pick of the prices on Day 2 at Newmarket….

Betting advice for this afternoon – Day 1 at Newmarket’s July meeting – was distributed yesterday. View it here….

Because I go out early – in search of the best possible prices about my selections – I’m always ahead of the game….

The flag hasn’t yet been raised on Day 1 – and I’m already thinking about Day 2….

…. which means the bet365 Trophy (3.00)– over the 14f trip….

…. and the bet365 Handicap (1.50) – over the 10f trip….

Let’s get to it….

In the bet365 Trophy – 3.00….

BEAMISH could be a well handicapped horse for Archie Watson….

…. and he’s the pick of the prices at the general 8s for the bet365 Trophy….

He’s had his problems – missing the best part of two years on the track before reappearing at Newbury in April for his new trainer….

His performance – over the 2m trip – was decent….

…. giving the impression he’s retained ability….

…. and he was entitled to need that first run back….

Draw a line under the Copper Horse – it all went wrong early on at Royal Ascot and never got any better….

In his younger days Beamish ran well in Listed and Group races over 12f in Ireland….

…. and if he were to recapture that level than he’s still a well-handicapped horse on 102….

And there’s something else going for him tomorrow – the cut in the ground….

…. it could well suit him a good bit better than some of the opposition….

In the bet365 Handicap – 1.50….

You could make the argument that INVOLVEMENT….

…. my pick of the prices for the bet365 Handicap (1.50)….

…. was harshly treated by the official assessor when put up 6lbs to 96 – after getting beaten 1.5 lengths by Nellie Leylax in last month’s Silver Bowl at Haydock….

…. but he was the only one that got within a length-and-a-half of the winner….

…. and the handicapper believes it to be good form….

The winner is yet to race again – having gone up 9lb herself….

…. whilst Involvement ran 7/29 in the Britannia at Royal Ascot – over the mile….

By Lope De Vega out of a Dubawi mare you’d think tomorrow’s step up to the 10f would improve him….

…. and he won’t mind cut in the ground – on which others in the field are entirely untested….

The 9s is a fair price….
