The pick of the prices on Friday….

Cesarewitch clues….

In ATC today….

…. I swing the bat in a brace of handicaps on Friday….

I’m on DANGERMAN in the 3.30 at Newmarket – up at 7s & 13/2….

…. and I’m on JANNAS JOURNEY at 14s & 12s in the 1.30 at York….

That’s the summary….

…. you’ll find all my reasoning below – as per usual….

Oh…. and if you’re looking for the standout place terms on offer – you’ll find them in the Bet Box below….

Read on….

-----

DANGERMAN at the general 7s & 13/2 is the pick for tomorrow’s Old Rowley Cup at Newmarket (3.30)….

He’s been given a bit of a break by the Gosdens after three consecutive appearances at right-handed Sandown over the 10f trip….

…. the last of which saw him give a decent account of himself against older horses – whilst encountering soft ground for the first time….

I’d suggest tomorrow’s assignment has represented a target….

…. he’s been hitting the line well over 10f and I’d suspect that he’s set to improve for a step back up to the 12f trip….

The yard remains in decent form – which is more than can be said for most at this late stage of the campaign….

…. and William Buick returns to the plate for the first time since June – at a track where he’s plenty better than most….

Perhaps stall 9 isn’t what you’d pick….

…. but horses have won previous renewals from wide draws in bigger fields than tomorrow’s….

…. including First Nation in 2017 – with Buick up top….

Over at York in the Autumn Mile (1.30) I’m backing JANNAS JOURNEY at the 14s & 12s….

Jim Goldie’s done a fine job with this filly since he got hold of her at the start of the season….

…. she’s had plenty of runs (13), won seven (five of them at Ayr), and risen 33lbs up the handicap….

I’m using those figures to illustrate the scale of a job well done….

…. but I understand they might also be employed to make a case against the horse tomorrow….

You can go to the well too many times and win so much that the mark gets to a point you can no longer win from….

…. and I would understand that argument….

But the way the 4yo won at Ayr the time before last says there’s still more to come….

I can draw a line under the last go where she was trying 9f for the first time and was ridden to get it from the rear when the race developed up front….

I don’t see the mile as a problem, nor the better ground, and whilst this race does represent a step up in class – it’s not like too many are progressing or in the best form right now….

She’s on a roll, she deserves a crack at some better money, and the price is there….

Now, just to recap….

The pick of the prices….

To recap on my bets….

e/w terms = It’s 4 places generally….

In the 1.30 @ York….

  • Pick of the prices – JANNAS JOURNEY (14s & 12s generally)
