The pick of the prices on Day 3 at York….

…. I bring you my best picks in Friday’s ITV handicaps at York….

I’m on START ME UP in the 1.50 – up at 33s….

…. and I’m on SAY WHAT YOU SEE at 18s in the 4.10….

That’s the summary….

…. the Sky Bet Mile - York – 1.50....

In eight of the last 10 years this big-field event has fallen to a horse starting in stall 5 or lower….

… and in the two editions across the last decade where that wasn’t the case – the winner emerged from stalls 7 and 8….

In other words, it’s not been easy for the horses drawn wide….

No arguments with the front two in the market – Zennor Storm and Exclusive Code….

…. they’re both drawn low with top jockeys onboard – but they’re up at prices that I want to take on rather than support….

In stall 3 – under Saffie Osborne – START ME UP can be backed at a big 33s….

…. and I reckon he can outrun those odds tomorrow….

I liked his finishing effort at Goodwood last time – under tomorrow’s jockey – when he made up plenty of ground in the final furlong….

…. and I like the step up in trip to a mile….

Back in June at Chester – on his first go over the 7f trip – he’d needed every yard to get in front that day….

…. and I got the impression at Goodwood – contrary to some analysts – that he’d have achieved a better placing had there been another furlong to run into….

He’s got a bit of form with some cut in the ground too….

His draw means he’ll be able to travel around the bend against the rail….

…. but his running style suggests Saffie Osbonre will need the gaps to come at the right time up the straight….

…. but that’s all factored into the big price and – at the price – I’m happy to roll the dice ….

…. the Assured Data Protection - York – 4.10....

SAY WHAT YOU SEE is the pick for this one at the general 18s….

He’s really benefitted from the application of cheekpieces – producing his best two bits of form either side of a 55-day break….

…. and his last run at Southwell….

…. where he got done by a very good horse tearing up his outside late….

…. will have put him spot-on for this foray into the handicap big leagues….

The time before that he’d shown that he handles this track with a good win in a big-field C4 handicap over 10f….

This is a useful horse on an upward curve with conditions to suit and I reckon there’s more to come off a mark of 91….

He can run a big race tomorrow at a decent price under regular rider Billy Garritty….
