Where my contrarian money is going tomorrow….

Short and sweet from me today. We have racing to target tomorrow afternoon at Epsom – where the going is good and the weather fair set.

In the Investec Mile (2.35) Richard Fahey’s SPRING OFFENSIVE is the bet for me at the prices. You can get him at a general 11s.

The 5yo arrives tomorrow having already put up a couple of solid performances earlier this term. That’s more than some of tomorrow’s opposition can claim.

On seasonal debut at Naas he ran well enough on the heaviest ground he’d encountered….

Next time, in the Thirsk Hunt Cup, there was market support and he was sent off favourite. He ran with credit to place from a draw that didn’t help him….

He remains on a mark of 93 and the signals are flashing that, when everything comes together, he’s going to prove a bit better than that. Tomorrow is a good time to catch him. Those two runs earlier in the season should have him well-tuned-up and ready to post a career-best.

He’s got a couple of features that will help. Andrea Atzeni is an eye-catching booking in the saddle. And stall 5 is not a bad place to be around the Epsom bend. And the drying track will suit. There’s a lot to like at a double-figure price.

I’ll be going in win-only at the price. But that’s just me. If 11s is an each-way price for you, don’t let me put you off. Your call.

The Contrarian Bet Box….

To recap on where my contrarian money will be going tomorrow afternoon….

In the Investec Mile (2.35 @ Epsom)....

  • Nick’s Contrarian Picks – SPRING OFFENSIVE (12s @ bet365, 11s generally)

That is my take on where the value lies – but you will no doubt have your own ideas and that’s exactly as it should be.

  • The last word….

That’s all from me for today.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my take on Saturday’s action.

Until then. Stay tuned.
