Richard Fahey has a hot favourite for tomorrow’s Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes (3.30) at Newbury....
Venture Rebel is the one to beat on the figures already banked in the formbook....
But tomorrow is another day and juveniles can take a big step forward....
And many of these horses will be encountering a bigger field of opponents than it has ever experienced before....
Some horses will adapt better than others. Some will cope better than others. Some will improve for the feature. Others will be beaten by it....
And the conditions of the race will play a part – with some horses more-advantaged at the weights than others....
It’s a race where it is reasonable to expect a fair proportion of unexpected outcomes – of horses outrunning price and sentiment....
Plenty of horses have run big races at big prices in recent years. A few won. Plenty more hit the frame....
I want to be on one at a price and the one I like is Richard Fahey’s BAILEYS IN BLOOM at 33s....
Fahey has won this race three times in the last six years. He has the favourite running tomorrow and another fancied runner in Mighty Spirit....
But this one is here on merit too. She got outstayed at 6f last time but shapes like this fast-run 5f could be just the ticket. She’s considered genuine and tough at home – qualities that will serve her well in this type of contest....
And she gets into the race with just 8-03 on her back....
I think she could be the dark horse of Fahey’s team for the race tomorrow. And the price is calling me in....
