Swinging the bat in the Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury….

Tomorrow’s Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury (2.50) is a race to swing the bat in. That’s how I see it….

A large field of unexposed and fast-developing juveniles allotted racing weights based on sales price, sex allowances and a sliding scale of win penalties is a perfect environment for shocks. And horses frequently run big races at big prices in the Super Sprint….

The one I’m backing to run a big race at a big price this time around is KIM WEXLER at 25s….

She’s only had one run – at Chepstow. She did herself no favours by hanging left and going all the way across the track to the far rail. But she still only got beaten by the winner – and she finished clear of the rest….

She clearly wasn’t straightforward on the day. But she showed enough ability to catch the eye. At the price, I can give her the benefit of the doubt and bet like she’ll improve for the experience….

The big field might help her. It could straighten her out – so to speak. She’s drawn in stall 25. If she were thinking of doing again what she did at Chepstow, having the entire field to the left of her might act as discouragement….

She’s certainly getting all the help she could ask for at the weights. She carries just 8-1 and gets weight from almost everything. Jimmy Quinn take the featherweight ride….

Nick’s contrarian picks….

To recap on where my idea of the value lies tomorrow afternoon….

In the Super Sprint Stakes (2.50 @ Newbury).

  • Nick’s Contrarian Picks – KIM WEXLER (25s generally)

That is my take on where the value lies – but you will no doubt have your own ideas and that’s exactly as it should be.

  • The final word….

That’s all from me for now....

I’ll be back next week with more handicap-focused insight, analysis, and intelligence. Stay tuned....

All the best.
