There’s not much for us this weekend….
There’s tons of action for us in the weeks ahead. And – in any case – it does no harm to have a breather….
All that said 14 are declared for the williamhill.com Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap over the 5f trip up at York at 3.50 and MULZIM is the one that appeals at 10s and 9s….
Up to last week, the 7yo had saved the best of his work for Southwell on the AW – a track where he’s 6 wins from 10 goes. On turf he’s been much more barely tried and is yet to win from 6….
But in the big 5f handicap at York last week, Mulzim ran something close to a career-best to finish 2nd of 17 runners – keeping on, getting up for 2nd in the closing stages and getting beat just a half-length by a well-handicapped horse….
He can be marked up a little too. Of the principal finishers, he was the one who came from furthest back to mount his challenge….
All told he gives the impression he can produce on turf. Maybe the big-field was the key to a much improved performance. Or perhaps the horse really took to the track at York….
Whatever, a swift return to course and distance might be an indication that connections believe something was left on the table last week. If he’s up to reproducing something like last week’s performance then he goes close….
Nick’s contrarian picks….To recap on where my idea of the value lies tomorrow afternoon…. In the williamhill.com Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (3.50 @ York).
That is my take on where the value lies – but you will no doubt have your own ideas and that’s exactly as it should be. |
That’s all from me for today. I’ll be back next week. Meanwhile….
