I am not at my best….
Feverish – and in the grip of some dreadful lurgy – I have taken to my bed to suffer in silence....
I don’t know if racing will go ahead tomorrow at Cheltenham – they’re expecting frost….
But if they do race – I’ll be backing NASSALAM in the Dahlbury Handicap Chase (2.25) – up this morning at 15/2, 7s & 13/2….
He’s well-up in trip for this – having raced at 2m first time out and at 2m4f in last month’s Paddy Power Gold Cup…..
He ran a funny race that last day – up in the vanguard for a long way before losing his pitch 4 out, dropping quickly to the back of the field and looking every inch like he was going to be pulled up….
But he found a second wind up the straight and made up a load of ground to finish 6th of the 14 and beaten 11.5 lengths. From where he was at the top of the hill it was quite some effort. At the death he was probably going as well as anything….
Ahead of that race not many would have had the 5yo racing over 3m2f next time out – but he looked very much like he stays plenty further than 2m4f and maybe they learned something about the horse that you can only find out on the track….
The bottom line is that he’s interesting at the prices in slightly calmer waters at this longer trip….
