The way the weather is, it feels more like the jumps season than the flat….
Chester is forecast to be dry on Friday….
…. but there’s more rain to fall today….
…. prevailing soft conditions will still be in play tomorrow afternoon….
…. and it’s clearly important to be betting horses that will handle plenty of dig underfoot….
If I made my living laying horses on Betfair Exchange….
… then I would definitely be laying Zoffee in the place market for tomorrow’s Chester Cup at 3.15….
Hugo Palmer’s charge had a good time of it last term….
…. rising 10lbs in the handicap – the result of a sequence of decent performances over staying trips….
But he likes it best when it’s quick underfoot….
…. and I can’t see why he’s so short in the betting tomorrow – currently 6s & 13/2 – given conditions are against him….
My pick of the prices is CALL MY BLUFF at the general 8s….
The horse has form around Chester – his form figures read 132….
…. and tomorrow’s rider John Egan was onboard for the last two of those – and is recalled tomorrow….
The 6yo has never encountered outright soft ground at Chester….
…. but I’m mindful that he has won on soft….
…. and he was the only one to make a race of it with the highly touted Novel Legend last time at Newbury on soft….
I’m not sure that being drawn 2 is ideal – but he can race going forward and it’s a sight better than being out wide like Metier….
The money appears to have come for him this morning. He was 10s a little earlier….
…. Or perhaps the bookies are just shortening up the likely types….
Who knows? But he’s the bet for tomorrow….
The pick of the prices….To recap on my bets for tomorrow…. In the 3.15 @ Chester….
e/w terms = Sky Bet are 1/5 the first 6. You can get 1/5 the first 5 generally…. Advised prices are correct at the point of publication – but prices are subject to fluctuation. Consult Oddschecker – you may find better quotes and terms than advised…. |
That’s all for today….
I’ll be back tomorrow
