I’m backing BEDFORD FLYER in tomorrow’s Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle (6.00)….
He’s up at 8s right now – but William Hill are the only firm currently showing prices. I’d assume other firms will go up there or thereabouts….
Bedford Flyer’s run with credit on his two goes since joining Michael Appleby’s yard earlier this year – both races up at York….
He was fancied for the second of those and went deep in the race before giving best. He wasn’t given a hard time once his chance had gone – and he might just be running into the kind of form the money anticipated….
He’s got a good record generally on all-weather surfaces – so much so it might be argued that he’s better on artificial surfaces than on turf….
…. and his return to Newcastle is especially interesting….
…. because he hasn’t been back to the track since winning over tomorrow’s trip in a nursery handicap back in 2020….
That’s old form, of course. But it offers grounds for optimism that this is a track that might extract a big performance….
