The pick of the Saturday prices….

Festival clues – angles & trends….

Reader PS writes in to express disappointment with this week’s KISS-angles….

“…. thanks for giving us information on trainers which we all know about but it’s not trainers running its horses we need more information on….”

You can’t please everybody…. but I will try to do better for PS next time….

For now – if you missed this week’s KISS-angles (you might discover something useful) – go here….

And if you haven’t yet downloaded your copy of my latest research report -Pinpoint ‘live’ contenders at the Cheltenham Festival 2024 – get your copy here….

There are hundreds of pointers in that report that will help you with your analysis of next week’s handicaps and G1 championship races….

The right horses are at the top of the market for Saturday’s Imperial Cup at Sandown (2.25)….

The Ben Pauling pair have obvious claims….

Jipcot turns out under a 7lb penalty after winning comfortably at Huntingdon on Sunday….

…. this is tougher but he’s very much on an upward curve….

Whilst Bad – in search of a penalty that might help get him into one of next week’s Festival handicaps – is reported to be in great form….

A little further down the list Sans Bruit is interesting stepping back to 2-miles….

On his first go for Paul Nicholls at Doncaster in January – his first run for 231 days – he was too keen and ran out of gas in the later stage of the race….

…. but he should be better for that run and the return of the hood could be significant….

I thought long and hard about him – but I’m minded to open the shoulders and have a proper swing of the bat at Gary Moore’s JUNKANOO and the general 16s….

This will be his first go since winning a novice event at Plumpton in January….

…. with the second horse home franking the form….

…. and his first go in a handicap….

You know what Gary Moore is like with these 2-mile hurdlers and I reckon this one could have more to give yet off a mark of 123….

Back in November – on his hurdling debut – he was wasn’t so very far behind Doddiethegreat at Ascot….

Granted, that one of Nicky Henderson’s was having his first run for 746 days and was giving the Moore horse 5lbs….

…. but he’s third favourite for next week’s Coral Cup….

…. he’s in the top-6 of the betting for the Martin Pipe….

…. and he looks nailed on to rank higher than his current mark of 132 at some point down the road….

Perhaps Junkanoo’s proximity that day at Ascot flattered him…. ….

…. and it might well turn out to be a false signal….

But he’s flung in here on a nice racing weight

…. and on soft ground that will suit….

…. I reckon he can run bigger than his price suggest…..

The pick of the prices….

To recap on my bet for tomorrow….

In the 2.25 @ Sandown….

  • Pick of the prices – JUNKANOO (16s generally)

e/w terms = Sky Bet, William Hill & Betway are 1/5 the first 6. It’s 1/5 the first 5 generally….

Advised prices are correct at the point of publication – but prices are subject to fluctuation. Consult Oddschecker – you may find better quotes and terms than advised….

  • Finally….

That’s all for today….

I’ll be back next time….

Meantime – contact me direct at nick.pullen@oxonpress.co.uk

And remember – win, lose or draw – enjoy the racing….

Stay tuned….
