The pick of the prices on Day 1 at Newmarket….

I get it with the market leaders for tomorrow’s Bet Boost At bet365 Handicap at Newmarket (3.00)….

…. they represent the good form already in the book….

…. the Macmillan form over 6f at York….

…. and the Palace of Holyrood House form over 5f at Ascot….

One or two of those are likely up against it at the weights….

…. and I’m mindful that none of the last five winners of tomorrow’s race was officially rated higher than 90….

…. and that just one of the last ten winners carried more than 8-12….

One race is not another. Then is not now….

…. but – facts are facts – looking down the race card has been no bad play….

…. and one horse that could take a big step forward at a nice price is Kevin Ryan’s SERGEANT WILKO….

He lacks experience in a field of this depth – that’s for sure….

…. but a 3lb rise in the ratings for a last-time-out win at Leicester looks potentially generous….

…. he’s getting a bit of cut underfoot – which he’ll appreciate….

…. and the 12s & 11s is fair enough….

Oisin Murphy is booked for the ride….

…. since start of 2022 he’s 14/59 @23.7% for owners King Power….
