In ATC today….
…. I swing the bat in the big weekend handicaps….
I’m on MOON D’ORANGE in the 1.50 at Cheltenham – he’s up at 8s & 15/2….
…. and I’m on CHARLIE UBERALLES at 14s in the 3.15 at Doncaster….
That’s the summary….

Taking aim….
I’m backing MOON D’ORANGE at the general 8s & 15/2 in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase at Cheltenham (1.50)….
He’s a four-chase novice so he’s had limited opportunities to prove himself capable off his mark of 129….
He’s got no win to his name over fences – but I don’t think that win will be very far away from coming now that train John McConnell looks set to run his charge at the optimum trip….
He started his career over fences running over an inadequate trip before going over 3m+ twice and turning out over 18f last time at Newbury….
Tomorrow’s trip looks like it will be optimum for the 7yo and he’s handicapped to progress….
I don’t know what CHARLIE UBERALLES has done wrong….
…. and I’m sticking with him for tomorrow’s edition of the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase at Doncaster (3.15) at the general 14s….
Last year he was third in this race off a mark of 122….
…. last time out over course and distance – in December – he landed a touch at a price for this column in the bet365 Handicap Chase off 123….
He clearly relishes the track….
….he performs on ground very similar to that which he will encounter tomorrow….
…. and he’s struck up a good partnership with Danny McMenamin – who partners again tomorrow….
On top of all that he’s been raised just 4lb to 127 for tomorrow’ assignment – and I believe he remains dangerous on that perch….
