The pick of the Friday prices….

If I’m such a great ‘pro’ punter….

In ATC today….

…. I swing the bat in Friday’s big handicaps at Cheltenham and Doncaster….

I’m on TRAPRAIN LAW in the 3.35 at Cheltenham – up at 8s….

…. I’m on SOPHIA’S STARLIGHT at 8s in the 1.33 at Doncaster….

…. and I’m on RHOSCOLYN at 20s in the 3.18 at Doncaster….

That’s the summary….

In the big race of the day on Friday….

…. the £100k squareintheair.com Handicap Chase at Cheltenham (3.35)….

…. I’m backing TRAPRAIN LAW at the general 8s….

Most of the 7yo’s opponents are starting out for the season tomorrow afternoon….

…. whilst he’s had the benefit of a run at Kelso earlier in the month….

… and he might just have a fitness edge….

I think his trainer quietly fancied him for the Grand Annual at the Festival in March – if the ground was soft enough….

It wasn’t – but he should have no such concerns tomorrow and he can run a big race with conditions in his favour….

SOPHIA’S STARLIGHT at the general 8s is the pick over at Doncaster in the William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap (1.33)….

She runs under a 5lb penalty after her win at Pontefract on Monday….

… an effective mark of 95 – and that certainly isn’t beyond her….

This is traditionally her time of year – when the ground turns soft….

…. and I’d imagine she’s still raring to go whilst a few of these might well have lost their edge after busier seasons….

She’s never done much at the track – on paper – but every time she’s turned out on Town Moor it’s been in a Listed race….

…. and the slower waters of a handicap could well see her to better effect….

RHOSCOLYN at 20s is the bet in the 3.18 at Doncaster….

…. the William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap….

He looks out of form…. and his yard looks out of form…. but you can never write this lad off on horrendous ground….

…. which is exactly what he’ll get tomorrow….

He’s back down to his last winning mark and he’s got the 5lb claimer back in the plate….

It’s a swing of the bat – for sure….

…. but he’s a proper player in the mud….
